„Innovation and quality are the keys for providing the best refractory products for our customers. That’s what our research work involves every day.“

Ralf,
employee in R&D / Quality assurance at Refratechnik

New recipes for our refractory products are Ralf’s passion. He prepares them for producing bricks in the laboratory, which are pressed into shape and fired, after which the finished bricks are smashed up. For this, pressure is applied to the bricks up to their load limit, or they are cut up with a saw. What for? The results are used by Ralf and other researchers and quality experts at Refratechnik to obtain further information about the new refractory material in order to optimize new product developments.

Ralf has been employed by Refratechnik in research and development since 2003. With his work in R&D and quality assurance, he plays a decisive role for analyzing and testing the product quality of our refractory solutions, thereby ensuring that we fulfill the highest market and customer requirements.

Although he has been doing his job with extensive experience and continuous further education for decades, one thing is just as fascinating for him as on his first day: The sight of red-hot bricks coming out of the kiln, or when extremely high pressures are applied to them for test purposes.

The better our products are, the longer is their service life, and the less often must they be replaced. That’s a win-win situation for us and our customers.

Ralf also carries out endurance tests on our products by subjecting them to “hot/cold” cycles. In this way, he determines the maximum loads for the bricks to ensure that they have a long service life in our customers’ installations.

According to Ralf, it is this dedication to quality and continuous improvement that distinguishes Refratechnik from other suppliers. For him, Refratechnik is the embodiment of innovative product development and German engineering. But he also sees sustainability and energy efficiency as central themes in present times. We share Ralf’s view and have no objections if he smashes up many more bricks, so that we continue getting better in future.
